Live From South Philly–It's Saturday Night!

SNL spots shot live at Chickie's and Pete's

There may not have been a Phillies game to watch at Chickie’s and Pete’s Saturday night, but there certainly was a show.

NBC’s Saturday Night Live showed spots on last night’s show from the famous South Philly sports bar, as well as two other sports bars around the country. The viewing party was open to anyone who wanted to join.

The film crew was already setting up camp Saturday afternoon at the Packer Avenue bar that just won the Golden Local for best sports bar in town.

Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, the spots didn’t have cast members, but they featured SNL-related content. The beer company bought up all commercial time for the show – about 9 minutes, all of which was used to promote its new Bud Light Golden Wheat brand. It's the first time in SNL history only one sponsor has the show.

The spots included un-aired clips from past SNL dress rehearsals, as well shots of the viewing parties at Chickie’s and Pete’s, and from other cities.

One of the skits was to include Marisa Magnatta of WMMR’s Preston & Steve show, according to philly.com. She was expected to wear a foam costume that looks like wheat, while a friend was to wear a Bud bottle costume.

Saturday Night Live was hosted by Gerard Butler with musical guest Shakira.
