Jury Selection Begins in Triple Murder Trial of 1 of 2 Pennsylvania Men

Jury selection has begun in a death penalty trial of one of two eastern Pennsylvania brothers accused of having killed two men and tortured and killed a woman.

The Reading Eagle reports that opening statements are scheduled June 8 in Berks County in the trial of 41-year-old Michael Williams of Ruscombmanor Township.

Wilkins and his 33-year-old brother Maurice are charged with first-degree murder and related counts. They were granted separate trials.

Prosecutors allege that they killed 22-year-old Rafael Alequin and 22-year-old Dario McLemore in a drug deal gone bad in December 2012.

Authorities also allege that they kidnapped and killed 26-year-old Jennifer Velez-Negron because she was involved in the drug deal and witnessed the murders. Her charred body was found bound and gagged on a Lehigh County road.
