Rollover Crash Claims 1 Life, Injures 4

Investigators say the five-passenger minivan made an unsafe lane change on the northbound lanes of I-95 when it clipped a car and crashed into the median. NBC10’s Doug Shimell reports that 60-year-old Lorraine Deans was the lone fatality

A violent single-vehicle crash left one woman dead and at least four people hurt and traffic snarled along a busy area highway for hours.

Lorraine Deans, 60, of Philadelphia was killed in the crash.

Authorities say around 8:30 a.m., a minivan left the roadway and rolled over in the median of I-95 south of the Woodhaven (route 63) Exit before the Academy Road Exit in Bucks County near the Northeast Philadelphia border.

There were reports that at least three people were ejected during the crash and two others were trapped.

Pennsylvania State Police aren't certain what direction the vehicle was going when the driver lost control so they closed both sides of I-95 at points to investigate first closing the northbound direction around 11:30 a.m. then the southbound direction around 1:30 p.m.

As SkyForce10 hovered overhead moments after the wreck the heavily-damaged van could be seen in the median -- debris strewn for feet around.

Traffic backed up in both directions of the highway for more than five hours.

NBC10 traffic reporter Christine Maddela reported a 3-mile delay in the northbound direction and a 1.5-mile backup southbound as only one lane got by in each direction.
