Stolen Front-end Loader Driven Through Diner

Westville, N.J. Police say they found alcohol on the truck.

Police tell NBC10 that someone stole a front-end loader from a nearby construction site and crashed it into the Piston Diner on Chestnut Street in Westville, N.J.

A New Jersey diner was badly damaged after a front-end loader was driven through its front end overnight.

Police say that a front-end loader was hot-wired and stolen from a construction site and then driven through the wall of the Piston Diner on Chestnut Street in Westville around 12:30 a.m.

Alcohol was found on the truck, according to police.

"We found bottles of alcohol inside the truck. We will process it for fingerprints and DNA submission," the Westville Police Chief Fred Lederer told NBC10.

Surveillance video shows that the driver of the truck jumped off the front-loader after the crash and got into a silver car.

"I've been with Westville for 25 years and this is the first time I've seen anything like this," Lederer said

Anyone with information is urged to call Westville Police.
