Fire Damages Homes in Jersey Shore Town

A house fire in Vetnor, NJ spread to a second home and firefighters are warning neighbors it could continue to do so. For now, it has been contained.

A blaze tore through two homes in a Jersey Shore town early Friday morning.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. on the 100 block of North Dudley Avenue in Vetnor, Atlantic County.

Large flames can be seen shooting from the roofs of the two houses, leading firefighters to warn nearby residents on Oxford Avenue that the fire could spread to their properties, according to officials.

At one point crews had the blaze under control, but it reignited forcing firefighters to battle back the flames once again.

One home's roof collapsed and both houses suffered serious damage, according to authorities.

No injuries have been reported. The American Red Cross is assisting three families who were displaced by the fire.
