Dad Slashes Daughter's Neck: Police

A father put a knife to his own daughter’s neck this morning, according to Philadelphia Police.

Police spokeswoman Christine O’Brien said that a man slashed his 7-year-old daughter around 8:30 a.m. on the 300 block of E Cliveden Street in the city’s East Mount Airy neighborhood.

When officers arrived they found the man holding the girl on the lawn of a home, said police Lt. Anthony Buchanico.

"He had a knife in his hand, the little girl was bleeding," Buchanico said.

The officers ordered the man to drop the knife. He cooperated and was taken into custody without further incident, according to Buchanico.

The girl was rushed to Einstein Hospital in stable condition with a slash wound to her neck.

Neither the father nor his daughter were identified.
