Philadelphia police narcotics officer Perry Betts will be suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss after police say he failed a drug test.
A Philadelphia police narcotics officer who won back his job after being acquitted on federal corruption charges is set to be fired again.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey told the Philadelphia Daily News on Thursday that Perry Betts will be suspended Monday for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
Union officials say they will not try to get Betts' job back again.
A jury acquitted the officers in May on charges including robbery, racketeering, conspiracy and falsifying police reports. Prosecutors said they stole nearly $500,000 worth of cash, drugs and belongings from drug dealers over in a six year period.
The six men regained their jobs through an arbitrator's ruling last month.
The officers have since filed defamation suits against city officials.
