Enroll in Health Insurance: Sunday is Affordable Care Act Deadline

The deadline for the Affordable Care Act is midnight. NBC10’s Drew Smith explains how local enrollment events are helping people make their last minute sign ups.

Sunday is the deadline to enroll in a health-insurance plan under the Affordable Care Act and avoid penalty fines.

Several locations around the area are offering open enrollment today:

Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia
2301 S. Broad St.
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Ceiba (Bilingual service available) in North Philadelphia
149 W. Susquehanna Ave.
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center
175 E. City Ave.
10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Those wishing to enroll should bring the following for all family members:

  • Social Security number (or documented numbers for immigrants)
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Information on tobacco use
  • Income information (paystubs or W-2 forms, wage and tax statements)
  • Employer information (name, address, phone number, policy number for any current health plans)
  • Information from employer about any job-related health insurance

The fine for not enrolling by the deadline is 2.5 percent of income or $695, whichever is higher.
