A man's body has been found after a house fire in New Jersey that injured four firefighters.

The fire broke out at a 100-year-old State Street home in Trenton around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Fire Director Derrick Sawyer tells NJ.com the home had been illegally partitioned into apartments, making it difficult for firefighters to combat the flames and search for residents.

The man's body was found on the third floor after firefighters re-searched the building when a family member reported a person missing. His name has not been released.

Four firefighters were hospitalized for injuries sustained battling the blaze, including two who suffered burns. The firefighters are expected to fully recover.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

It is unclear if any charges will be filed over the partitioned apartments.
