3 Killed, 1 Injured in Fiery Crash on Schuylkill Expressway

A third person has died from injuries from an early-morning car crash on the wetsbound Schuylkill Expressway near Montgomery Drive. Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the accident.

Three people were killed and a fourth was taken to the hospital after a fiery crash on the Schuylkill Expressway early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill right before the Montgomery Drive exit.

Pennsylvania State Police said the driver lost control, traveled onto the right shoulder and struck the right concrete barrier.

When police arrived, they found the car overturned on its side and fully engulfed in flames.

Police say three people were killed in the crash. A fourth person was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in an unknown condition.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.

It was not immediately known if weather played a factor in the crash.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
