On Thursday, jurors failed to reach a verdict after reviewing FBI wiretaps involving the collection of debts from an undercover agent.

Seventy-three-year-old Joseph "Uncle Joe" Ligambi could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of all charges.  Federal prosecutors say he's run La Cosa Nostra in the Philadelphia area since 1999.

Ligambi and six others are accused of strong-arming rivals to take over the operation of lucrative video poker machines in bars and clubs. They're also charged with taking sports bets, loaning out money on the street at high rates of interest, and threatening people over their payments.

Defense attorneys say the charges are overblown.
