Picture Happy Robber Turns Himself in

Kadeem Cook surrenders to Police after seeing his picture on the news

18-year-old Kadeem Cook turned himself into North Philadelphia Police around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Cook, the thief who took a picture of himself holding a gun on a cell phone that he stole, surrendered after seeing the photo all over the television.

We're pretty sure he's regretting his boneheaded decision. Philadelphia Police on the other hand, are glad that their jobs were made a whole lot easier.

“We’re happy that he provided a photo of himself for us,” Lt. Frank Vanore said Wednesday.

The 18-year-old is suspected of robbing a 20-year-old college student on October 7 as she walked home from SEPTA's Fern Rock Transport Center back in early October.

The student claimed that she felt something against the back of her neck, which she believed to be a gun. She then said that the man ordered her to drop her purse before escaping with everything, including her cell phone.

Luckily for the student, she had technology on her side.

“When she took a photo on her cell phone it went to a computer where she could actually still gain access to those photos,” said Vanore.

When the woman logged on recently she saw the suspect posing with a gun in hand. Shortly after, the picture happy robber was identified and an arrest warrent was issued.
