An SUV crashed into some bushes and a tree in front of a Northeast Philadelphia home after the driver was shot and killed early Tuesday.
The crash took place at Montour Street and Longshore Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood after 4 a.m. A neighbor reported hearing what sounded like multiple gunshots from a distance followed by a loud boom near her home.
The neighbor walked outside to find the SUV crashed on a yard. It wasn’t clear if anyone was in the home.
Medics pronounced the 38-year-old SUV driver, later identified as Sadiq Abdul-Shakur Haqq-Barksdale, dead at the scene, Philadelphia police said.
He was shot at least once in the chest around the 5900 block of Oxford Avenue, police said. That's about 1 mile away from the crash scene.
Investigators placed a sheet over the vehicle as they searched for clues. No arrest has been made.
