Child Wounded in Random Paintball Attack

It may sound like a game, but it’s no laughing matter. A child is hurt in a drive-by paintball attack at the Jersey shore. Now, police are searching for the gunman.

It happened Tuesday night outside the Custard Hut on Route 9 in Somers Point.
Trey Landwehr was with his family and church group when a black car with four guys inside slowed down. Three shots were fired into the crowd.

Police call it a random attack. The 9-year old boy literally didn’t know what hit him.

“I holded my forehead and I thought it was a firework or something,” he said.

The blast left quite a welt on the little boy’s face.

His mother, Kathy Landwehr, says it could have been way worse.

“He could have so easily been blinded,” the woman said.

Police say the car, believed to be a black Honda with New Jersey plates, sped away from the scene. They hope to hear from anyone who can help them find those responsible.
