The attorney for the former headmaster of a Wilmington prep school has asked that child porn charges against his client be dropped. During Tuesday’s trial, a state trooper testified that Christopher Wheeler tried to scrub his laptop as police closed in on him.
A state trooper says a former headmaster of an elite prep school charged with dealing child pornography tried to scrub his laptop computer as police closed in on him.
Sgt. Kevin Perna testified Tuesday that a "shredding" application on Christopher Wheeler's laptop was initialized 35 minutes before troopers arrived at his home last October. Perna said police nevertheless were able to determine that Wheeler had accessed a child porn website earlier that day.
Perna was the only witness at the trial of 54-year-old Wheeler. He has waived his right to a jury trial and will have a judge decide his fate.
Wheeler resigned last year as headmaster at Tower Hill School in Wilmington, whose graduates include DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman, U.S. Sen. Chris Coons and former congressman Mike Castle.
