Charlenni's Abuse: Stepmom Did What She Could

The horrific abuse 10-year-old Charlenni Ferreira suffered before she died last October were detailed for the first time in a preliminary hearing on Jan. 12, 2010. The stepmother and father were both charged with murder in the case. The dad committed suicide after being jailed. After the stepmom’s prelim on Jan. 12, 2010, defense attorney Barbara McDermott said Margarita Garabito was a victim too, who did what she could to protect the little girl.
