There are now new details on a deadly house fire that occurred Tuesday Night. NBC10’s Deanna Durante is live in Bustleton, where a husband and wife died in that fire.
Investigators spent early Wednesday trying to determine what ignited a house fire that left a man and woman dead in Philadelphia's Bustleton neighborhood overnight.
"The Bustleton section of Philadelphia suffered a tragedy today," said Philadelphia Deputy Fire Commissioner Jesse Wilson.
Heavy flames and smoke were showing as firefighters arrived on the scene just minutes before midnight on Bridle Road. The flames quickly spread.
"Companies encountered heavy fire... it was an aggressive interior fire fight," said Wilson.
Two people who were found on the first floor were pronounced dead after CPR failed to revive them. Their names have not been released. Neighbors said the man and woman had recently dropped off their child at college.
A firefighter was taken to a Aria Torresdale Hospital for evaluation, said Wilson.
It took more than 30 minutes for firefighters to get the upper hand on the blaze. They were able to keep the fire contained to the single-family home.

Firefighters didn't hear any smoke alarms going off when they arrived. There was a minor gas leak plugged up after the fire.
No word yet on the cause of the blaze.
