Suspected Drunk Driver Creates ‘Own Exit,' Goes Down Snow Embankment in Bala Cynwyd

Firefighters believe the driver was drunk after they say a car went off a snow embankment on Interstate 76 in Bala Cynwyd late Tuesday night.

A driver is facing DUI charges after his car went down a snowy embankment in Montgomery County early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened shortly after midnight on an off-ramp for the Schuylkill Expressway in Bala Cynwyd.

The man was driving eastbound on the Schuylkill Expressway and took the exit for Lincoln Drive.

According to investigators, the man told firefighters he thought he was taking the Fort Washington exit and made “his own exit.” There is no Fort Washington exit on the Expressway.

The car went off the road and ended up going down a snowy embankment.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

He is facing driving under the influence charges.
