Blaze Rips Through South Jersey Apartment Building

A blaze damaged an apartment complex, displacing nearly 20 residents.

Eight units were damaged and 19 people were displaced when a fast-moving fire roared through a southern New Jersey apartment complex.

The blaze broke out around 4:15 p.m. Saturday in the Bellmawr Manor Apartments on the 1000 block of West Kings Highway in Bellmawr, N.J., according to reports.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the eight-unit building.

It's not yet clear what sparked the fire at the Bellmawr Manor complex, which was reported around 4 p.m. Saturday. But authorities say it does not appear to be suspicious, and no injuries were reported.

Officials say flames made their way into the attic, which allowed the fire to spread quickly.

They were finally able to bring the fire under control about an hour later.

The American Red Cross was assisting the 11 adults and eight children displaced in the fire.
