Beyoncé Concert Scheme Lands Lawyer in Prison for 3 Years

A lawyer was sentenced to three years in prison for participating in a scheme with a concert promoter to scam local investors out of more than $2 million that they said was being used to promote well-known artists like Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Alicia Keys. Instead the funds were used to pay off previous investors and for the defendants’ own personal use.

Herbert Franklin Green, 47, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty in July in U.S. District Court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.

Marc Hubbard, 49, of Cornelius, North Carolina, also pleaded guilty last summer to eight counts and was sentenced Tuesday to six-and-a-half years in prison. Hubbard ran a purported concert promotion business called Sports Dimensions.
