Bensalem Cop Hurt, Suspect Shot

Domestic disturbance call ends with suspect, officer in the hospital

A Bensalem Police officer suffered minor injuries during a police-involved shooting that left an assault suspect shot.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. when police responded to a domestic assault call at the Country Commons Apartments on Richlieu Road, according to Bensalem Police.

Police found a woman in her 40s visibly hurt with one eye nearly swollen shut, cops said.

When police approached her son inside an apartment unit, Victor Arango allegedly burst the door open and began towards police using a knife in a stabbing motion, cops said.

That was when an officer shot Arango in the hip.

Arango reportedly fell down some steps and took a second officer with him causing her to suffer bruises to her arms and shin, officials said.

Both the officer, Arango and his mother were being treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said police.

Arango is charged with assaulting both the officer and his mother.
