Deadly Crash Closes Delaware Road for Hours

Police spent hours investigating a deadly crash on Route 13 in New Castle County, Delaware.

A deadly multivehicle crash closed a Delaware road and caused traffic to back up Tuesday morning.

The four-car wreck happened around 7:15 a.m. along northbound U.S. Route 13 (S DuPont Highway) and Bear Road in Bear, New Castle County, said state police.

Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said one person died. Hale did not have further details about if icy roads may have played a factor.

The wreck involved a pickup truck and at least two sedans — leaving the truck and one sedan badly damaged.

Police urged motorists to avoid the area as they investigated the wreck and reconstructed the accident.

The roadway finally reopened after fours hours.
