Homeowner Shoots Teen Invader: Police

A man shot a 19-year-old intruder in the stomach inside his home on B Street in Olney overnight. Medics then rushed the intruder into surgery at Einstein Medical Center.

A homeowner opened fire on a teenage burglar standing in the doorway to a bedroom of his Philadelphia home early Saturday.

The 46-year-old homeowner was asleep with his girlfriend when he heard a noise on the second floor of his home on the 5900 block of B Street in the Olney section of the city around 3:45 a.m., said Philadelphia Police.

The man found a 19-year-old standing in the doorway to the bedroom. A struggled ensued before the homeowner shot the 19-year-old intruder in the stomach, said investigators. The teenager was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where he underwent surgery in critical condition.

It wasn’t clear how the intruder got into the home since there were no signs of forced entry, said police.
