Judge Won't Reduce Bail for Duo Charged in Atlantic City Officer's Shooting

A judge has denied requests to reduce the bail for two men charged with attempted murder after an Atlantic City police officer was shot in the head while responding to a robbery at an Atlantic City casino garage.

Attorneys for Martel Chisolm and Demetris Cross had said their clients shouldn't be charged with attempted murder in the Sept. 3 shooting of Officer Joshlee Vadell at Caesars Atlantic City.

The attorneys say their clients didn't have guns and didn't know anyone else had them.

The judge sided with prosecutors on Tuesday, who said evidence and witnesses link the men to the scene. The two each remain jailed on $750,000 bail. [[392495241, C]]

The 29-year-old officer underwent surgery after being critically hurt in the shooting.

Another officer returned fire, killing 25-year-old Jerome Damon. [[392361291, C]]
