Atlantic City Pushes Back Auction for 143-Acre Bader Field

Atlantic City delayed the deadline for bids for Bader Field, after city council postponed the sale because the city failed to advertise the sale of the airfield.

Officials in Atlantic City have delayed the auction of the former Bader Field airport.

The City Council on Wednesday postponed the sealed-bid auction a day before bids for the former airport were due. The new deadline is Aug. 4.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Council President Marty Small said he believes it wasn't advertised correctly.

City officials hope the sale of the 143-acre site will provide cash to pay down the city's debt and expenses as it faces a deadline to get its finances in order by the end of the year or face a state takeover.

The city initially set a $155 million minimum bid for the property before requesting sealed bids.
