After 55 years in Philadelphia, Amoroso’s bakery is closing the facility and moving to Bellmawr, Camden County and has laid off all of its workers in the process.
Amoroso's Baking Co. will be laying off all of its employees as it begins its transition to a new location in New Jersey to operate under a new entity.
The company, in a memo to workers Wednesday night, announced it would begin permanent layoffs in October in order to move to a new facility in Bellmawr, Camden County.
"We have outgrown this bakery and have reached the point of needing to update and better automate in order to build and plan for the company's next 100 years," the company said in a memo to employees.
