Plane Bound for Philly Makes Emergency Landing in Tampa

Mechanical issues caused an American Airlines flight bound for Philadelphia to make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida earlier Wednesday morning.

Authorities say an American Airlines plane bound for Philadelphia made an emergency landing a short time after taking off from Tampa International Airport.

Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny told the Tampa Bay Times that flight 782 landed safely at the airport at 6:52 a.m. Wednesday. He says the plane reported a mechanical issue and fire trucks were sent to the tarmac as a precaution.

No injuries were reported.

Airport spokeswoman Christine Osborn says no other flights were disrupted by the emergency landing.
Officials say the passengers are being put on other flights.
