Intoxicated Boyfriend Killer Gets Leniency From Judge

Woman gets 7 to 15 years in Pa. shooting death

A judge says he took pleas for leniency from the mother of the victim into account in sentencing a woman in the shooting death of her boyfriend last summer.

The Erie Times-News reports that Erie County Judge Shad Connelly sentenced 29-year-old Kristina Mae Allen on Wednesday to seven to 15 years in state prison.

The term was in the mitigated range for Allen's third-degree murder and assault conviction in the August death of 27-year-old Dean Haggerty after an argument in the couple's mobile home in Summit Township.

Angel Haggerty told the judge that alcohol killed her son and Allen “just pulled the trigger.”

Connelly said her comments moved him and agreed that the victim “was severely intoxicated.” He also cited Allen's remorse and lack of a prior record.
