Atlantic City police officers are taking pay cuts in order to bring back 17 officers who have been laid off.
The police union voted Tuesday to take $410 pay cuts each -- which would bring the force back to 300 officers.
In addition, the city is adding $1 million to the police budget for next year to help cover the officers' salaries.
60 police officers were let go in total this year -- 40 of them in September -- thanks to Atlantic City's $10 to $15 million dollar budget deficit.
Both sides are considering further union givebacks that could result in another 30 laid-off officers coming back to work.
