Charges to be Filed Against Mom of Baby Left Alone in Car Outside Walmart

Charges are expected to be filed on Wednesday against a woman who allegedly left her baby boy alone inside a vehicle outside a Philadelphia Walmart.

A witness found the 6-week-old boy in the car seat of a 2005 Highlander at the parking lot of the Walmart on Franklin Mills Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The witness then called police.

By the time police arrived, the child’s 35-year-old mother had already returned to the vehicle. The child was evaluated by medics and then taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital. He was then released to his father.

The child’s mother was taken to Special Victims Unit where she was interviewed. On Tuesday, Special Victims announced they expect to file charges some time on Wednesday against the woman. According to investigators, surveillance video shows that the child was alone in the vehicle for almost 30 minutes before he was found.
