1 Hurt, 20 Displaced in Chester County Apartment Fire

One person was hurt and 20 people were displaced after a fire broke out at a Coatesville apartment complex the day before Thanksgiving.

The fire started inside a kitchen at an apartment complex on the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway around 4:15 p.m. The flames were eventually brought under control shortly before 6 p.m.

One person was injured in the fire and taken to the hospital. Officials have not yet revealed his or her condition.

Officials also told NBC10 five families and a total of 20 people, including 12 children, were displaced by the fire. The displaced residents are currently being assisted by the Red Cross.

“The 20 residents are being provided lodging over the holiday as they are not able to return to their homes at this time,” said Red Cross spokeswoman Sara Smith. “They were able to gather belongings like clothing and other essentials so other assistance was not needed.”
