The New Ballpark Food Lineup is Here

The Phillies are asking for your help in deciding what new healthy food is going to become part of the everyday menu at the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park. Executive Chef Glenn Richmond is debuting two new sandwiches—a grilled chipotle chicken wrap and a pan-seared turkey burger—that fans can sample, and then vote for at the Phillies website beginning April 1 and ending June 30.

The winner will be announced after the All-Star Game, and become part of the rotation at the stadium.

Also new is the Philly Fresh stand behind section 139, featuring dishes with lower calorie counts and more nutritional value, including a new salad made of mixed greens, red grapes, pistachios, dried cranberries, blue cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette.

"We randomly select people at every baseball game and get their feedback in regards to what we can do better in terms of food," said Dan Smith of Aramark, who manage all of the food at Citizens Bank Park. "Healthier options was the number one answer, and by a large margin."

Other additions to the stadium munchies are the hand-pressed panini sandwiches, including a slow-roasted Cuban pork version, and another stuffed with Buffalo chicken and blue cheese.

In the world of desserts, Yogen Fruz, the frozen yogurt stand, is new for 2011. Surprisingly, this season also marks the debut of Tastykakes at the ballpark, our local factory-made baked goods which are as recognizably Philadelphian as cheesesteak. [The Feast]
