Pa. Taking Steps to Protect Bats

Greg Turner, Endangered Mammals Biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Sandra Yerger of the Heritage Conservancy are addressing threats to the local bat population. Bats help prevent crop damage and can lower pesticide use because they’re able to eat up to 150 percent of their weight in insects every night. Studies show the disappearance of bats could cost the U.S. economy as much as $50 billion a year.
