US Airways Crash: Learn About the A320 Aircraft

A US AirwaysAirbus A320 aircraft crashed into the Hudson River in New York City after a flock of birds disabled two of the plane’s engines.

US Airways flight 1549 left LaGuardia Airport at 3:24 p.m. Monday bound for Charlotte, N.C.

US Airways is the largest carrier at Philadelphia International Airport. It is not clear at this time if any passengers are from Philadelphia.

Airbus first introduced the A320 in 1988 and has delivered 2,036 aircraft over the model’s 21 years of service.

The US Airways A320 can hold up to 150 passengers.
