A.C.'s Steel Pier Opens

One of Atlantic City’s most iconic attractions is ready to make it’s season debut after weathering the storm.

Atlantic City's famed Steel Pier opens for the season tomorrow bringing family fun to the Atlantic City boardwalk.

The historic pier where horses once dove came through Superstorm Sandy mostly unscathed making opening this early possible.

There are nearly two dozen rides including the brand-new The Mix thrill ride, plenty of games and food available at the Steel Pier. Through the end of the month, if you buy one ride ticket book you will get one free.

The Pier officially opens for the season Saturday at noon and will be open weekends throughout the spring and summer.

The Steel Pier first opened in 1898 and from the 1920s to 1950s it could host up to 80,000 people a day. Various entertainers including Bob Hope, the Three stooges, Frank Sinatra and many more played the pier, according to the Pier's website.

The Steel Pier of yore will forever be known though for its novelty acts including the diving horses, motorcycle high-wire acts that would perform.
