Voters are picking candidates in New Jersey on June 7, 2022.

The polls have now closed for New Jersey's 2022 midterm primary elections.
Some familiar names were on the ballots in New Jersey today as Garden State voters headed to the polls.
Former Republican state Senate Leader Tom Kean Jr., the son of former Gov. Thomas Kean, is running for among seven Republicans in the primary for the 7th congressional district seat. The winner will challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski.

The son of another famous New Jersey politician, Robert Menendez Jr., whose father is one of the state's two current U.S. senators, is also on the ballots of voters in the 8th congressional district. He faces two other Democrats in the primary. The winner in that race will face off against one of the two Republicans running in the open race. There is no incumbent.
Other districts where incumbents are running have contested races for those already in Congress. It all adds up to an intriguing election in a solidly Democratic state, where the liberal party currently holds 10 of 12 congressional seats.
Redistricting completed in December, however, shook up the congressional map, leading to some potential changes to the Democrats' 10-2 margin.

The primary also included another wrinkle: It's just the second time voters have been able to cast early votes in person, following last year's gubernatorial race.
Polls were open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the hours ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Today is also the last day to return mail-in ballots.
