Snow Moves Out, Bitter Cold, Strong Winds Remain

A nor'easter dropped over six inches of snow in parts of South Jersey and Delaware on Tuesday.

Bundle up and be careful on the roads Wednesday morning. While the snow will be gone, bitter cold winds will remain as well as slippery spots on some roads.

A nor'easter dropped more than 6 inches of snow in parts of South Jersey and Delaware on Tuesday.

The snow stuck to roads as the temperatures dropped, leading to slushy and slippery roads.

It was a different story in Philly, the surrounding suburbs and Lehigh County however. The system moved out of Philly and the north and west suburbs after only dropping a coating to an inch.

The snow was much heavier along the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches. In Cape May County, 6.5 inches of snow fell along with 3.8 inches in Cumberland County, 2.5 inches in Atlantic County, 7.0 inches in Sussex County and 4.7 inches in Kent County.

The snow continued along the coast until the system moved out after midnight.

After clearing our area, the winds increased as the nor’easter strengthened out in the Atlantic.

AFTER THE SNOW

Intense, hurricane force winds out in the ocean will lead to wind gusts over 40 mph and temperatures in the 20s and 30s for our area. Fortunately, the wind will be blowing off shore meaning there won’t be any coastal flooding or beach erosion issues.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning we should see near record cold with temperatures in the low 20s in Philadelphia and the teens in the surrounding suburbs. Things will start to warm up throughout the day on Thursday however with temperatures in the mid 40s. An even bigger warm-up will happen Friday with a high of 64.
