It’s no trick in these Pennsylvania and New Jersey communities - Halloween is on the move.
With rain and thunderstorms expected to put a damper on Thursday night, some Pennsylvania and South Jersey towns have rescheduled the annual tradition of doling out candy.
In Hammonton, the town moved door-to-door trick-or-treating to Wednesday night, citing the “safety of the children” as a concern.
Costumed kids can now collect candy from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the town of about 14,000 residents, Hammonton announced on Facebook. Be sure to dress the kids up before they head out the door as the Hammonton School District Halloween Parade was rescheduled for 1:45 p.m.
Rain could still put a damper on Wednesday festivities as scattered showers move in during the evening.
For Oct. 31 purists in South Jersey, the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing will be holding indoor trick-or-treating from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The Atlantic City Community Partners’ Trunk or Treat was moved to Wednesday due to “faulty weather” before being rescheduled again for Halloween. The event where people park their candy-filled cars now takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween at various locations including MLK School, the Uptown School and the Surf Stadium Parking Lot.
In Pennsylvania, Spring Township in Berks County moved trick-or-treating up to Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Spring Township Police Department and Spring Township Fire Company will be giving away treats, as well.
Instead of moving up Halloween, Mantua Township in New Jersey moved trick-or-treating back to Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Leaders of the Gloucester County community of about 15,000 people decided to make the move due to the rainy forecast.
In a Facebook post they noted the potential for upsetting some in the community:
"We ask that you do NOT post derogatory or negative comments on this page. The decision was made in the best interest of safety for our community and our trick-or-treaters."

Buena Vista Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, also moved back trick-or-treating to Friday. Little ghouls and goblins can trick-or-treat from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in all areas of the township except for Collings Lakes, where trick-or-treating will go from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Borough of West Chester in Chester County, Pennsylvania, moved trick-or-treating to Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. due to the weather.
Conditions are expected to be clear Friday, but much colder with highs only in the 50s.
Other communities could decide to move their traditional Halloween trick-or-treating as well. If it moves in your town please let us know in the comments.
