Tornado Warning Expires, Storms Move Out

What to Know

  • A second round of storms moved through Berks and Lehigh counties Thursday night.
  • Thunderstorms moved into both counties around 10 p.m. and the NBC10 Weather Team extended a First Alert for those areas until 2 a.m. Friday.
  • The storms contain damaging winds, hail, frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy downpours.

A second round of storms moved through the Lehigh Valley as well as the Pennsylvania suburbs. Thunderstorms moved into both counties around 10 p.m. Thursday and the NBC10 Weather Team extended a First Alert for those areas until 2 a.m. Friday.

A Tornado Warning was in effect for Chester County but expired at 11:30 p.m. Tornado Warnings were also issued in Monroe County and part of Northampton County but expired at 10:30 p.m.

The storms contained damaging winds, hail, frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy downpours. After moving through Berks County, the Lehigh Valley and north and west suburbs, the system hit parts of the Jersey Shore and coastal Delaware overnight.

The storms were gone by sunrise and Friday will be sunny and windy.

The rest of the Memorial Day Weekend is looking nice from the city to the Shore. Other than a few spot showers or storms at night Saturday and Sunday, the weather looks dry and warm.

We could be dealing with some serious heat by the middle of next week. Forecast highs in the middle 90s!
