Icy Glaze On Top of Snow

The snow has ended in Philly, but there's still an icy coating left behind.

Most of the snow and wintry mix has ended in the Philadelphia area, leaving plenty of icy spots on the road. Snow to the North of the city tapered off early this afternoon.

Midnight to 2 a.m. - Snow came in and developed after midnight everywhere except southern Delaware where it was mostly rain.

2 to 6 a.m. - Snow increased in intensity and continued to accumulate north of the city. The snow changed to rain south and east of the city.

6 a.m. to noon - The snow changed to sleet and rain in much of the immediate Philadelphia area.  An icy glaze currently covers the snow that previously came down. The snow changed to sleet and freezing rain, leaving a coating of ice that covers it. While the main roads in the city are relatively clear, side roads and sidewalks are now very slippery. Snow should continue across Lehigh Valley and the Pocono Mountains.

Noon to nightfall – Expect light drizzle and freezing drizzle in the afternoon in some areas as the storm moves out.

The ice line could remain over Philadelphia and the immediate surrounding areas for much of the morning and early afternoon.

Don’t count on the temperature going way up and changing the ice to rain in the city or surrounding areas.
