FIRST ALERT: Flooding, 45 MPH Wind Gusts Hit Jersey Coast

The coastal storm brought pockets of heavy rain, some coastal flooding and strong wind gusts.

  • Coastal areas will take the brunt of the storm, experiencing heavy rain, strong winds and moderate flooding.

A coastal storm brought heavy rain early Saturday to the entire NBC10 viewing area and strong wind, particularly along the Jersey Shore.

Pockets of heavy rain, widespread coastal flooding, and strong wind gusts hit parts of the region before the storm move out in the afternoon.

A First Alert was in effect through 4 p.m. Saturday.

By Sunday, Klei said the outlook is "cloudy skies with a few peeks of sunshine, and breezy conditions."

Coastal communities in New Jersey saw moderate coastal flooding during high tide Saturday, which took place around 10 a.m. along the shore.

Winds were fierce for several hours Saturday morning. Forty-five mph gusts pummeled areas in and around Philadelphia, with even stronger gusts possible at the shore. 

The highest rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches were right along the beach communities. Inland locations saw less rain.

The worst of the weather ended by midday Saturday. Saturday afternoon through Sunday will still be breezy and chilly with a few scattered showers, but the rain won't be as persistent or widespread. Another round of rain is likely Monday.
