More than half a foot of snow blanketed some parts of the area this morning in a rare storm that left the most snow points south of Philadelphia and barely anything to the north.
Snow began falling in parts of South Jersey, Delaware and Philadelphia Tuesday night and continued overnight before moving out around daylight.
The storm left more than 7 inches of snow in Atlantic City and more than 5 inches in parts of Delaware.
Other spots, including locations in Pennsylvania saw between a coating to 3 inches before the storm moved out.
"This is one of those rare southern storms where they are getting the snow and ice down south and we're on the northern fringe of it," said NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz.
Light snow fell in parts of Philadelphia while the snow hit hardest down the Jersey Shore and in southern Delaware as predicted.

"It's a very tight gradient between heavy snow and no snow," said Schwartz.
The wind chill overnight made it feel colder meaning that anything that fell should stick around for most of Wednesday as temps continue to stay below the freezing mark.
There is relief from winter weather in the near future however. Temps should finally move back near the freezing mark by Thursday with a high of 31. By Friday, temperatures will be around 40 degrees and will rise to 50 degrees over the weekend.
