What is a Blizzard?
The storm is bringing with it high winds which could create snow drifts and whiteout conditions.
For a storm to be classified as a blizzard two conditions must be met:
- Sustained winds of 35 mph or higher for three hours or more
- Falling or blowing snow which reduces visibility to less than 1/4 a mile
A blizzard advisory has not been issued for the area, but the storm is expected to bring near blizzard conditions.
