After yesterday's big storm, the side street slide is on. From the skinny streets of South Philly to the hills of Manayunk, driving is difficult and walking isn’t any easier. In fact, in some spots, the best way to get around is by sled.
The city of Philadelphia claims that it did its best to get to as many streets cleared as possible, but because of the declared snow emergency, the focus was on the major roadways. And of course, because of budget cutbacks, people who live in the city were warned to not expect much.
City residents can call Philadelphia’s information line, 3-1-1, to put their street on a list to have the Department of Streets pay a visit to their neighborhood.
