Cold and Wet Weekend on Tap

Nor'Easter wreaking havoc on the shore, bringing slow in the mountains

Getting ready to repeat!  No, this isn't a story about the Phillies, but our weekend weather. Another coastal low will develop, track north, and bring the region more messy weather.

Friday night and Saturday will not see much change in what we have Friday. Skies will remain cloudy as light rain and drizzle fall across the area.  Temperatures will remain in the 40s both at night and during the day. The wind will be a bit breezy out of the northeast and will start to increase by Saturday night. What was light rain during the day will become heavier and more widespread into the night.

Saturday night and Sunday the coastal low will create the gusty northeast wind again, thus why we also call these storms Nor'easters. The wind will be gusting again to near 40 m.p.h. causing coastal flooding and bringing colder air down from the north. This could cause the rain to mix with snow in the Poconos.

So here are the regional highlights for Saturday night and Sunday:

Poconos has a winter storm watch in effect. Rain will mix with snow and the temperatures may barley make it above freezing. Snow could accumulate a few inches and cause travel problems.  Wind could be gusting to about 30 m.p.h.

Suburbs north and west will see mainly rain and wind throughout the period. The rain will be lighter than areas south and could even become just drizzle for a period of time. Temperatures will be around 40 degrees during the afternoon and in the mid 30s at night.

In the city, rain will become heavy at times as the wind picks up. Temperatures will be in the 40s both at night and during the day but with wind gusting to near 30 m.p.h., it will feel much cooler.

South and east there will be more coastal flooding with heavy rain and gusty wind. The temperatures will be a little warmer but the wind could be gusting to near 40 m.p.h.

Sunday it could still be messy as the storm is not forecasted to move much. Rain and wind could continue all day and even last into the evening. Temperatures may still be only into the 40s with a gusty wind.

Monday is the start of some improvement with clearing skies and the start of a warming trend.
