Thanksgiving Travel Conditions, Delays and More

It's wet, windy and wintry -- all things Mother Nature's throwing at you to hinder your holiday travel.

Here's what you can expect where and when:

Wednesday Afternoon
Heading north: Rain tapers off
Heading south: Rain ends
Heading east: Rain ends
Heading west: Brief burst of snow

Wednesday Night
Heading north: Some snow (mainly mountains)
Heading south: Clearing
Heading east: Clearing
Heading west: Clearing

Thanksgiving
Sunny, windy, cold in all directions

"The rain should start to diminish by Wednesday night, so leaving then would be OK. The ideal time, if you can swing it, would be Thanksgiving morning," says NBC10 First Alert meteorologist Tedd Florendo.

Passengers flying for Thanksgiving are urged to "pack their patience." Philadelphia International Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said arrival delays of almost two hours will be impacting depatures, and about 40 flights have been canceled, so be sure to check travel delays and cancellations before you head out the door.

US Airways, Delta, JetBlue and United are allowing passengers to change their flights either today free of charge. Check their websites for specific details.
