    Snow and Ice at the Jersey Shore

    Jersey Shore residents dealt with snow during the day and ice at night. We take a look at the late night conditions.

    What to Know

    • A First Alert was in effect for South Jersey and the Jersey Shore due to ice-covered roads and sidewalks.

    • The ice comes after several inches of snow fell in parts of South Jersey and the Jersey Shore.

    • Scattered light snow showers and flurries spread as far inland as Center City Philadelphia at midday with a trace falling in the city.

    The snow is gone but road conditions remain messy at the Jersey Shore due to black ice forming on roads.

    A First Alert was in effect for South Jersey and the Jersey Shore Thursday due to ice-covered roads. Drivers were urged to use caution while traveling in the area.

    The First Alert was canceled around 7:30 a.m.

    Snow already created a messy commute throughout South Jersey during the day, including Ocean City and Atlantic City. More than 7 inches of snow fell in Brigantine. Two to five inches of snow also fell in parts of Atlantic, Cape May and Gloucester counties.

    Scattered light snow showers and flurries spread as far inland as Center City Philadelphia at midday with a trace falling in the city. 

    Snow cleared out by Wednesday night but ice is forming in areas where the snow fell, leading to slippery conditions.

    By Thursday, dry conditions are back and the cold sticks around with temps in the low 40s.
