6,000 Gallons of Scotch Lost

A tanker truck full of booze got tipsy and overturned yesterday.

No one was seriously hurt when a tanker truck carrying 6,000 gallons of Scotch whisky overturned and caught fire in Woodbridge, N.J.

Fire Chief Dan Gregan tells The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick the truck was making a turn when it clipped a telephone pole, hit a parked car and ignited Tuesday morning on King Georges Road.

The chief wasn't sure whether the truck's fuel or the Scotch caught fire.

The driver, who works for a hauling company in Newark, was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

No one in the neighborhood was in danger, police said.
