Teen Girl Breaks Leg When Struck Along Roosevelt Boulevard

A vehicle struck a high schooler walking along one of Philadelphia’s busiest roadways Wednesday morning.

The crash along the northbound lanes of the Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. Route 1) near Ryan Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia around 7 a.m. left the unidentified teenage girl with a broken leg, said Philadelphia Police.

Following the crash in the outer lanes, the driver stopped and medics took the teen to Aria Torresdale Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police didn’t reveal what school the girl attends. And, investigators also didn’t reveal if she was headed to school at the time.

One of the girl's shoes remained on the rain-slicked roadway following the crash. After the crash a pickup truck remained on the scene as police investigated.

The outer lanes of the roadway remained closed as accident investigators searched for a cause of the crash.
