Crash Closes NJ Turnpike for 3 Hours

Five-car wreck closes southbound lanes in Gloucester County

A traffic mess greeted drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday afternoon.

All southbound lanes were closed near mile-marker 21 in Deptford (just south of Exit 3 - Route 168) for a multi-vehicle crash around 12:30 p.m., according to county authorities.

Three people were taken to Cooper Hospital with injuries, according to authorities.

The crash involved three cars and two tractor-trailers and backed traffic up for more than three miles, authorities said.

Crews worked quickly to clean a diesel spill on the roadway.

By 3:20 p.m. all lanes were reopened and traffic began to move again.
